There are many breeds of cavy and I’ll try to tell you about as many as I can. I’ll start from A to Z.
Abyssinian
This cavy has many rossets over it’s body,this is due to the hair growing in swirls.
Agouti

This breed of guinea pig comes in many varieties, some being the lemon and the golden.The hairs of this cavy's undercoat is banded with two colors, a dark color at the base and a light color at the tip.(The cavy above is my dear sweet, Puff, who passed away, September of 06. She was a Golden and White, Agouti.)
Boucle

The boucle pronounced (boo-clay)is known as the alpaca in the UK. Boucle is French for curly and the name surely does suit this breed,it’s covered with curly hair.

The coronet is a crested silkie.
Cresteds

There are two kinds of cresteds.They are, the white crested known as the American crested in the UK. This crested breed has a white rosset on it’s head while it’s coat has a color all over it except the center of the head which of course, has the white rosset.
The Self Crested known as the English crested in the UK has a rosset on it’s head, but it is the same color as the rest of the coat.
Dalmation
This breed resembles the look of the well known dog. It is white with black spots.
Dutch

This breed has any kind of one color on it’s cheeks and the bottom half of it’s body.The face and the middle of it’s body is covered in white.They come in many colors,such as,red(pictured) black,chocolate and much more.
Himalayan

The Himalayan is a Guinea pig with a white body and dark nose, ears and feet.
Merino
This is a crested texel.
Peruvian

This is a well known long haired breed. It’s hair grows towards it’s face and can grow as long as 12 inches in a year.This breed needs to be groomed quite often.
Rex
A cavy well known in the UK that resembles the teddy in most ways but genetics.
Ridgeback
A smooth coated guinea pig with an erect ridge of hair that runs from the head to the back.
Roan
A roan is made up of one or two agouti or self colors with an intermixing of white hairs.
Satin

Satins are beautiful cavies with a shiny glossy coat.
Selfs
This guinea pig has a coat of one color. There are many colors in this breed, such as, cream, black, golden and white.
Silkie

This breed is called the sheltie in the UK and is a long haired cavy.The hair of this breed grows over the body and should be groomed everyday, just like the Peruvian.
Smooth Coats
These are known as American cavies in the US and English cavies in the UK. They are short haired piggies with no cowlicks or swirls to be found.
Teddy

The teddy breed has a short dense coat with kinked hair.It is known to look like the well known stuffed toy and this is why it has the name teddy.
Texel

This is a curly coated silkie.It has long curly frizzy hair and is named after the curly coated texel sheep.
Tortoiseshell
A breed with the colors, red and black.
Tortoiseshell and White

A cavy with white, red and black. They can be found in many breeds.

Hairless Cavies
Skinnies
This is a cavy that is nearly completely bald,it has no hair,besides,the little on it's face,back,shoulders and feet.It is a really rare cavy.
Baldwins
This is another hairless cavy.This cavy is born with lots of hair,but as it gets older,it will start to lose all it's hair and become completely bald,meaning no hair is to be found anywhere!This is a bald cavy and when I say bald I mean bald.This cavy has no hair unlike the skinny cavy,that is why this cavy has the name "Baldwin"
